Meet Fontaine…
As a former professional badminton player for Team GB and England, Fontaine was ranked in the world top 50 and was England’s number one women’s singles player for 5 consecutive years before she retired in 2018.
Despite the many setbacks due to injury and financial support, Fontaine showed resilience and determination to win National and International titles, achieving European medals and competing with the best in the world.
Fontaine found the transition from her sport extremely tough but with the support of family, friends and becoming an Athlete Mentor for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, she started to find her passion away from the badminton court.
As a badminton coach alongside her playing career, Fontaine knew she wanted to help more people find their love for movement, and so became a qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor.
Before joining the reformer pilates movement, Fontaine worked in Gymbox, one of London’s most popular commercial gyms, learning from some of the best group fitness professionals. Then after attending a reformer pilates class, Fontaine was asked if she’d be interested in doing the in depth 12-week teacher training with the prestige pilates studio, Heartcore.
And as they say the rest is history!
Heartcore was fundamental in Fontaine’s teaching development, as she learned from highly experienced and knowledgeable leaders in the industry. Alongside 15 years in professional sport, Fontaine has held coaching qualifications for just as many years and regularly updates her knowledge with new courses to ensure she continues to develop her expertise, allowing her to consistently give the best training techniques and advice to her clients.
Fontaine is very proud to work with charities, Rackets Cubed and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. Alongside being an online coach for Deliciously Ella's app, Feel Better, Fontaine has also been a long term online Strength and Power coach to the worldwide fitness community, Club Five.
Outside of her sporting career, Fontaine worked hard to achieve a Masters Degree in Journalism. From working at the London 2012 Olympics as a journalist, being the only female pundit for the National Badminton League that aired on Sky Sports, to hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she interviewed athletes and members of the public each day during the games. Fontaine loves the creative side of journalism, interviewing people and sharing their stories.
Besides movement, Fontaine loves being with her family and friends. She’s a very social person that enjoys eating out and drinking great coffee. If Fontaine isn’t chatting to someone, she’s more than likely running after her daughter, who has even more energy!
Combining all of Fontaine’s expertise, passion for helping people and a drive like no other to succeed, she now aims to make The Studio an inclusive space, full of energy and somewhere you can find enjoyment through movement.
